Reisai is one of three major festivals (the others are “Kinen-sai” and “Niiname-sai”). The festival is held to give thanks to divine blessing of Samukawa-daimyojin, and to pray for further prosperity. This festival is considered as the most important one among those annually held by Samukawa-jinja Shrine. On the day of Rei-sai, starting from 10:00, the grand ritual is calmly held for many worshippers coming from all over the country as well as responsible directors and parish representatives. In the precincts, flowers, tea, verses, and Bonsai (miniature potted plant) are offered, and kendo, karate, and performing arts are demonstrated for dedication purposes. At night, the approach to the shrine will be illuminated by offered lanterns.
